ARCTIC RUSSIA EXPEDITION

Firmly establishing our reputation as one of the leading 4x4 based tour companies with the most wide reaching international tours available we will return to the Kola Peninsula in Russia's far north for another amazing expedition! If you like wide open spaces then this is the tour for you. Spaces don't come much wider than this!! We will explore the true, wild frontier land, east of Murmansk....in 24 daylight and snow!!!

Bleak mountains and tundra stretch endlessly away to every horizon and we will drive all day without seeing a house or another person or even any signs of habitation. The 24 hour sunlight will add to the incredible experience as we explore half abandoned settlements and coastal trading villages, 300 miles north of the article circle!

VEHICLE PREPARATION AND EQUIPMENT NEEDED The terrain on this tour is rough and remote so you will need both a reliable and well-prepared vehicle. The guide’s vehicles will be fitted with winches, recovery tools and navigation equipment, but you must have All Terrain tyres, bash guards and recovery points fitted as a minimum. A comprehensive tool kit, spares stock and first aid kit are also must haves and are required by law when driving through Europe. We will supply all of your drinking water and food, including lunch and snacks, so you don't really need to stock up or reserve space for storage. Depending on weather conditions and the inclination of the group we'll be wild camping for at least one night, so bring your sleeping bag and a tent.

PRICES £750 per person. Price includes… *Fully guided and supported 9 day off-road tour of Arctic Russia. *Full board!! All accommodation and 3 meals a day, for the 9 days. *Full time escort, guide and translator all the way from the meeting point in Finland and all through the tour. *All your paperwork, worth £70 (visa invitation, visa application, visa registration). *All the help you need getting through borders, police check-points and booking into hotels on route. *We'll arrange your Russian car insurance for you, for no extra cost. *All the taxes, charges and permits for travelling through military and controlled zones. *All the pre-trip advice you need. *Free greenlaning weekend in Wales.

What is not included. Your travel insurance, your fuel costs, ferry to Russia and your food and accommodation on the way to and from the 9 day tour. At a rough estimate, based on 2 people sharing a vehicle, you are looking at about just less than £1000 per person for the 3 weeks. To book a place on this tour we require a £150 deposit.

MORE DETAILS How to get there! There’s no getting away from it, the arctic is a long way away, but in actuality the journey is not that hard at all. Only the last 2 days will be pretty solid driving as we have about 600 miles to cover from Helsinki to Kandalaksha in Russia where the tour starts. This is a rough itinerary for the journey, so you can get an idea of what is involved. 1 Everybody makes their own way to the port of Rostock in Northern Germany. Either from Calais, or the longer ferry from Harwich to Hamburg (much less driving) where we’ll take the 24 hour ferry to Hanko, near Helsinki, Finland. 2 Arrive in Hanko at 07.30, and drive the 600 miles to Roveniemi in northern Finland. It’s a very easy road with hardly any traffic and then book into the City Hotel at £20 a person. 3 The Russian guide will come to the hotel to meet us and then escort us back over the border helping us fill in all the little forms we need to. First night in Kandalaksha 4 - 13 Off-road tour of Arctic Russia. 14- 18 Journey back home. 19 - 24. Recovery period!!! 25 - Rest of Life. If you don't fancy the drive to the Arctic and back you can fly out to Murmansk and have a seat in the 'bus', an army troop carrier which has absolutely astounding off-road capabilities and is actually really comfotable to travel in!!
