WEEKEND GET TOGETHER

8th 9th MARCH 2008

We will be holding another get together weekend on Sat / Sun 8th and 9th March 2008 for anyone booked on an upcoming tour, for those that have been on a previous tour and for all those genuinely interested in joining us off-roading on one of our tours or expeditions.

The format will be the same as before, camping at the Wilderness Farm where meals and breakfasts are available if you don’t want to cook yourselves, and the if the big house is vacant, there’ll be plenty of space for B+B for those who don’t like the thought of camping so early in the year. But it won’t be until early next year that I’ll know about this. And even if the house is not free hopefully, we can use the outdoor hot tub…

For those who have come before and want to try something a bit harder you can stay at my friend Glyn’s place, about 12 miles away and work yourself around his extreme site. He came to do Ladoga with me last year, so he knows all about hard off-roading. You’ll need a winch, or at least to be good friends with someone who has one… Pics of site here. You can camp and have a barbeque and fire there, but there are no facilities…Bring a spade…

As always, the weekends off-roading will be free, just £10 a car at Glyn’s and £5 per person camping at the farm, there’ll be a camp fire going, kids and animals welcome, a place on hard standing for caravans. We’ll be splitting into a few separate groups so we can arrange routes that will be a little easier for some, or just concentrating on the hardest trails in the area. Most trails will be very muddy at this time of year, so please come on at least A/T tyres, road biased tyres will not be appropriate. I would like a couple of volunteers who have Memory Map, or know their way around the North Wales lanes and don’t mind being responsible(ish) for 5 cars behind them…

I will be returning from India on the Friday afternoon, so I reserve the right to seem confused, tired and a little disorientated….))

For those interested in a tour, but are a little nervous as to what you and your vehicle can do, we’ll arrange a tuition period for you on our on-site beginner’s off-road course.

If you have any questions, please just ask, but there’s just one thing. Please don’t just turn up on site and expect to join us. Numbers aren’t exactly limited, but I need to know who’s coming and who wants what. When you tell me you are definitely coming I will then give you directions to the site.
