DESERTS OF RAJASTHAN INDIA FEBRUARY 2008, 14 DAYS

This 14 day self drive tour through the amazing desert landscapes takes you to the highlights of Rajasthan, one of the most culturally vibrant and evocative states of India. You get to drive Indian made Mahindra Jeeps along desert tracks, sharing the road with nonchalant camels and farmers with their horse and carts.

You will get to camp out under the stars in the Vast Thar desert, stay with local families in villages where ancient traditions are still practiced and visit such cultural high-lights as the Taj-Mahal, Jodhpur, Agra’s Red Fort and Jaipur. But what will remain in your memory just as long and as vividly as these World Heritage sites is the whole experience of seeing rural India, of being welcomed into villages that are far off the normal, and well-trodden, tourist routes.
